Thurston County Sheriff John Snaza, who was badly injured in a motorcycle crash in Montana in August, has been transferred to Harborview Rehabilitation Center in Seattle.
Snaza was transported by Lacey Fire District 3 on Tuesday, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office said. Until Tuesday, Snaza was being treated at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
At Harborview, he will undergo a comprehensive evaluation to assess the best recovery options, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Snaza suffered life-threatening injuries Aug. 23 in the off-duty motorcycle crash. He was traveling with friends on Montana Route 200 at Milepost 23 near Noxon, Montana, when he lost control of his bike on a curve and slid over an embankment, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. Snaza was not wearing a helmet.
