A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday when a minivan hit her near an Auburn elementary school, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The girl was hit about 8 a.m. outside Camelot Elementary School, 4041 S. 298th St., and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A hospital spokeswoman said the girl was in critical condition.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Houck told The Seattle Times the girl was hit while crossing the street 30 yards from a crosswalk as she walked to school.

A high school student was driving to school in a minivan when it hit the girl. Speed and impairment were not believed to be factors in the accident, Houck said.
