A semi-truck smashed into the back of another semi-truck in Graham Wednesday, sending one driver to the hospital with serious injuries and blocking Meridian East for more than an hour.
The collision happened about 8:50 a.m. in the northbound lanes near 304th Street East after a semi stopped in the turn lane, preparing to go to the landfill.
A second semi driver struck the rear of the first semi, Trooper Brooke Bova said.
It’s unclear why the second driver didn’t hit his brakes or what caused him to lose control.
The driver of the first semi was not injured but the second semi driver had to be extricated from his truck. He was taken to the hospital with a broken leg.
Meridian was blocked in both directions while the wreckage was cleaned up and investigation was conducted.
