A 24-year-old man is dead and two of his passengers are in critical condition after a crash Saturday morning on northbound Interstate 5 in SeaTac, said Washington State Patrol trooper Rick Johnson.
Witnesses told authorities the Dodge Caliber was speeding when it lost control and hit the end of a guardrail, Johnson said. A fourth person in the car had a broken arm. The passengers were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A state patrol press release states drugs or alcohol was involved. The driver and at least two of the passengers — all in their 20s and from Federal Way— were not wearing seat belts, according to the state patrol. At least two of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle, Johnson said.
The driver was declared dead at the scene. The accident took place near the 188th Street exit, Johnson said.
