A Federal Way woman died Monday from injuries sustained in a December wreck on state Route 509 in Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Barbara Lunde, 73, died in hospice care after the Dec. 2 wreck at SR 509 and Port of Tacoma Road, in which her husband’s car left the road and struck a railroad crossing sign, a State Patrol news release announced Wednesday afternoon.
Her husband, 80, was the driver during the wreck, the release stated, and he was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for treatment.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, the release said. Rain had slickened the highway during the crash, which happened about 11 a.m.
