Tacoma-based CHI Franciscan Health outlined steps Friday it is taking to prepare for any person sick with Ebola.
Along with MultiCare Health System, which held a demonstration Thursday on protective clothing for health care workers, Franciscan has been organizing for the unlikely event of a person infected with Ebola seeking care.
The systems have been working on their plans for several weeks.
Spokesman Scott Thompson, via e-mail Friday, said Franciscan is:
Never miss a local story.
• Rolling out additional training for staff on how to properly put on and take off personal protective equipment. This training will be on-going.
• Working to identify locations and staffing within each hospital for an Ebola triage area, which will enable us to target training for selected staff.
• Ordering in additional equipment and gear as needed.
Thompson also said Franciscan had an internal webinar Friday to discuss plans and answer staff questions. All departments, such as environmental services, dietary and support services, are meeting to develop their plans, he said.
