The Lakewood City Council unanimously approved its $34 million biennial budget Monday night, sealing the fate of 12 employees who will lose their jobs at the end of the year.
In total, the city’s 2015-16 budget will have 20 fewer full-time equivalent positions. Some of those positions are already vacant or soon to be vacant and won’t be filled.
Positions that will be cut include a community service officer, two management positions, a financial analyst, administrative and office assistants, and information and technology staff. The position of a police lieutenant who is retiring will remain unfunded.
The staff cuts are estimated to save the city about $4 million over the two years.
