Chestnuts roasting, Jack Frost nipping and the Old Elf himself will make an appearance Saturday (Nov. 29) in Tacoma.
It’s time to light the city’s Christmas tree.
Hosted by Broadway Center, the annual tree-lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Pantages Theater at South Ninth Street and Broadway in downtown Tacoma.
Festivities will begin with seasonal musical selections played by the 56th Army Band, and will include brief remarks by dignitaries including Col. Paul Mele, commander of the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Never miss a local story.
The tree, upward of 65 feet tall, was obtained from JBLM and decorated by Tacoma Public Works employees in the past week.
Admission is free and Santa Claus will be available for photographs inside the Pantages Theater lobby beginning at 5 p.m.
