A 20-year-old Shelton woman was killed early Sunday after the car she was driving was struck head on by another car, according to the Washington State Patrol.
About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Breanna R. Atwell and her passenger were northbound on U.S. Highway 101 about 2 miles southwest of Shelton when a southbound vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into them.
Atwell died at the scene. Her passenger, a 22-year-old man from Shelton, was injured and taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
The other driver, a 20-year-old man whose city of residency was unknown at the time, was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
The crash was under investigation. Drugs or alcohol are thought to be involved, according to the State Patrol.
