The birth of a bison calf has kicked off baby season at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Eatonville.
The calf, who will not be named, was born Sunday and remains with its mother in the 435-acre Free-Roaming Area meadow.
It appears to be doing well and is walking on wobbly legs, head keeper Ed Cleveland said.
The park’s herd now has 17 bison and several more births are expected in the coming weeks.
Never miss a local story.
Also pregnant are elk, half a dozen bighorn sheep ewes and an 8-year-old beaver.
“Baby season is always enjoyable because there’s the anticipation of something new each day,” Cleveland said.
