East Pierce County man suffers medical emergency, crashes into trees, WSP says
A 60-year-old Graham driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed into some trees Saturday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The injured Graham man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital.
About 5 p.m., the man was driving north on state Route 7 in the Elk Plain area of Pierce County when he experienced his medical event. He then drove off the road and crashed into multiple trees, according to the State Patrol.
Trooper Kameron Watts said via social media on Saturday that the driver was initially found unresponsive and needed to be extracted from the vehicle.
Watts later described the driver as “responsive” and that he was undergoing care at an area hospital.
Traffic was slowed for 25 minutes after the crash, according to the State Patrol.
