Emily Oliver was crowned the 78th Daffodil Festival queen Sunday night.
The Spanaway Lake High School senior’s coronation took place at the Pantages Theater in downtown Tacoma. Oliver is Spanaway Lake’s first Daffodil queen, spokesman Steve James said.
Sammy Roberts of Eatonville High School was given the congeniality award.
The four-part Daffodil Parade takes place Saturday: In Tacoma, the parade starts at 10:15 a.m.; Puyallup, 12:45 p.m.; Sumner, 2:30 p.m.; and Orting, 5 p.m.

The grand marshal will be UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, a former state champion wrestler at Franklin Pierce High School.
