A 50-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after a fiery single-car crash along Valley Highway, according to Kent police.
The woman’s car left the roadway on Valley Highway near South 200th Street about 2:15 p.m., striking a tree, a news release said.
The woman was trapped in her car as smoke billowed from the engine, the release said. Firefighters removed her from the vehicle and extinguished the fire.
The unconscious woman could not be resuscitated.
