A medical building in Tacoma was evacuated Thursday after several people complained about a chemical odor.
The Tacoma Fire Department was called about 9:30 a.m. to a MultiCare Health System building at 1901 S. Union Ave. (Building B).
Several people were evaluated for mild respiratory irritation.
Everyone was moved out of the six-story building so a HAZMAT team could search for the source of the odor.
The team was unable to identify the source of the smell, but monitoring equipment “confirms threat has dissipated,” the Fire Department tweeted.
The medical building later was reopened, and employees and patients were allowed back inside after firefighters confirmed the odor was no longer present.
