The Kiwanis Club of Gig Harbor presented the Keller Award to Melani Joyal on Sept. 29.
President Andi Mitchell selected Joyal for the award for her years of service in a variety of club roles and positions.
“(Joyal) has served our club above and beyond. As a member, she has originated ideas and events that have supported our club financially as well as generating positive attention to our goals,” Mitchell said in a release. “She has willingly and successfully led the Kiwanis Club of Gig Harbor as p resident (and) has been our treasurer for nearly 10 years. As a CPA, she has ultimate understanding of our foundation and our other accounts, and is able to communicate the appropriate way to use our funds. As a board member, Melani is thoughtful in discussions and helpful in decision making. She is an excellent candidate for The Zeller Award.”
Named for Walter Keller — the first Kiwanian to donate to the Kiwanis International Foundation in 1940 — the Keller Award is presented to a Kiwanis member for exemplary work and dedication to the club and their community.
