The Gig Harbor Arts Center Alliance will host its major fundraiser, “An Evening of ExtraOARinary Delights,” at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club. The event is raising funds to cover costs of a feasibility study for a regional arts center to be built near the Gig Harbor YMCA.
The center will serve the peninsula communities with facilities for a wide variety of performing and visual arts, provide studios and education space and add a unique dimension to the quality of life, said Jonathan Bill, Alliance Board president.
Plans for the proposed center can be viewed at gigharborartscenter.org.
The event will include dinner, a choice of salmon or vegetarian pasta, an auction of contributed items, and the main feature, large boat oars turned into unique art pieces by a variety of area artists. The oars are currently on display at the Harbor History Museum.
