Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance will debut the first-ever Winter Sip & Stroll on Feb. 13.
The event — titled “Love the Wine You’re With” — will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. along Gig Harbor’s downtown waterfront, and has been modeled after the July Sip & Stroll, held as part of the Gig Harbor Wine & Food Festival.
“It’s kind of a quiet time on the downtown waterfront and we wanted to encourage people to come down to the waterfront and see what we have to offer,” said Mary DesMarais, executive director of the Alliance. “It’s a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.”
The event features 13 “stroll stops” for local businesses that will feature a selection of wine, craft beer, spirits or cider, along with samples of specialty food.
Never miss a local story.
Downtown businesses participating in the event include 7 Seas Brewing, The Harbor General Store, Heritage Distilling, Finholm’s Market & Deli, Gig Harbor Audio and For the Love of Spice.
Complimentary transportation on Pierce Transit’s Gig Harbor Trolley has been provided by the Alliance for the event to shuttle participants among the different stops.
A carrying bag, tasting glass, 15 alcohol taste tickets and a map of the event — with room for wine notes — will be provided to participants at registration. Tickets for the Winter Sip & Stroll can be purchased online in advance for $30, or on the day of the event for $35 at the registration center, in the Peninsula Shopping Center off Judson Street.
The wines featured at the event will be available for purchase at a central area in the shopping center, DesMarais said.
Winter Sip & Stroll tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.bit.ly/sipandstroll.
“If you’re thinking ahead, get reservations and make a day of it,” DesMarais said. “I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
This Winter Sip & Stroll is a Gig Harbor Wine & Food Festival event and is presented in partnership with the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor.
