With spring in the air, Fox Island is offering the chance to pick up shrubs and perennials while supporting local organizations.
The annual Fox Island Plant Sale will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday (May 2) at the Nichols Community Center on Fox Island.
It is the 40th year for the plant sale, which is known as the Jeff Feagin Memorial Plant Sale, to honor the event’s founder.
Gardeners on the island have donated plants for sale. Prices will run from $1 up to rhododendrons and shrubs for about $15, said Barbara Anderson of the Garden Club.
Dana Coggon, the noxious weed coordinator for Kitsap County, will have an information booth and will give advice about invasive plants.
The sale honors Feagin, who started things off in the 1970s. He died in 2010.
“(He was) a very much loved man,” Anderson said.
Proceeds of the show benefit FICRA, Fox Island Community and Recreation Association, as well as the Fox Island Garden Club and the Sand and Soil Garden Club.
