Peninsula Pet Hospital has joined Best Friends Total Pet Care in a recent acquisition by the company.
Best Friends Total Pet Care recently moved its headquarters from Norwalk, Connecticut to Kent in an effort to be closer to the Seattle area and its pet ownership and industry, said Adam Wendt, vice president of marketing for Best Friends.
“As we’re headquartered in Kent, Washington, it has always been our goal to have a larger presence in the Pacific Northwest,” Mollie Hoff, president and COO for Best Friends Total Pet Care, said in a release. “As we continue to expand nationwide we’re thrilled to move into our own backyard and build a stronger presence here. We are looking for hospitals that practice high-quality medicine, which is exactly what we have found at Peninsula Pet Hospital.”
Wendt said that the company was especially interested in a Gig Harbor location.
“Peninsula Pet Hospital has a great reputation,” Wendt said. “We have heard great things about Dr. Waters and her staff.”
Current customers of Peninsula Pet Hospital should not fear any drastic changes in the practice. Dr. Laura Waters, the previous owner and veterinarian, will remain in charge of the staff. The changes, according to Wendt, will mainly come in the form of administrative support for the business.
Another change includes Best Friends offering customers the option to utilize Best Friend Care Plans, which are designed to help defray the annual costs for pet care or the costs of a new pet.
“Our mission is to enhance the well-being of pets through all the stages of their lives and improve accessibility to pet care, “ Hoff said in a release. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Waters and her staff to the Best Friends family.”
Best Friends, which has 38 locations in 18 states, has recently changed from a private equity company to a family-owned company. Peninsula Pet Hospital, 3604 56th St. NW, is its first Washington state location.
