Cheers to young Costco employee Cameron, who found my money that I lost somewhere along my daily stops. Cameron found the money and turned it in to his supervisor, who set it aside. What a great feeling knowing Costco employs such trustworthy people in its Gig Harbor store. It underscores my effort to adjust my cynical ways and applaud both Cameron and Costco Gig Harbor.
Cheers to the two Gig Harbor police officers who came to the rescue of a mother duck and her babies who had fallen into storm drain after trying to cross Stinson Ave on Saturday. My husband and the young couple next door got her and the ducklings across safely in spite of some inconsiderate speeders, but then the group heard some chirping from the storm drain. I did not think it would do any good but I called 911 and explained the situation. The lady did not laugh or chastise me for calling but said she would pass the information on.
What a wonderful thing to witness. Thank you so much Mr. Policemen, and sorry we didn’t get your names. It is fantastic to know that our officers have big hearts and are pretty good with a fish net!
Jeers to people in our community who slander and lie about our City Council just because a decision does not go their way. No one on our City Council “is in the pocket of developers.” That is an irresponsible lie. Can’t we find better ways to deal with disagreements than using lies and name calling? This is not who we are!
Cheers to Caitlyn Tyler, a junior at Peninsula High School, for being accepted to the Tanglewood Institute of Opera's summer program.
