More than 300 students brave rain for Walk to School Day

Parents and students gathered along established routes and walked to school Oct. 7 as part of International Walk to School Day throughout the Puyallup School District. The students walking to Meeker Elementary had special guests, which included airmen from Joint Base Lewis-McChord and a police escort to ensure safety from the Puyallup Police Department.

Third-generation farmer continues family’s legacy

The owners of Double R Farms are preparing for their 13th season as pumpkin farmers. Co-owner Geri Ruiz is following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather as a farmer. Originally, the Ruiz family went into the pumpkin business to allow Geri to work around her daughter’s schedule.

Sumner announces a ‘Call of Dooty’ to citizens

In an effort to help keep not only local water sources clean, but to beautify parks and other city properties, the city of Sumner as launched a campaign entitled “Call of Dooty.” The play on words is an effort to get citizens and visitors alike to do their duty and pick up after their pets.
