What started in Hawaii from prior friendships while living in America Samoa, the urban gospel group Day 3 Trio have encouraged and inspired concert goers, leaving them with some kind of hope.
In 2012, Fia Taito and the husband and wife team of Carmen and Edward Leota, members of the Puyallup Seventh Day Adventist Church, formed their music ministry.
“We just came together,” Taito said. “We started just having a little fun with it.”
Despite the Leotas and Taito working full time and having families, the trio has still found time to spread the gospel through their music.
Never miss a local story.
“I’m a medical assistant,” said Taito. “Carmen is an agent for Allstate, and Edward works in construction. It’s a lot of work to plan the events ... it’s exciting but overwhelming.”
While it can get overwhelming, Taito says for her personally, to be a part of the group is a privilege.
“I just love to see the response we get,” she continued. “I trust it will move and encourage somebody — it’s just the joy of doing the Lord’s work.”
As part of that encouragement, the group will perform March 20 to 22 at the Urban Ministries conference at the Auburn Adventist Academy, 5000 Auburn Way South.
The conference, which is open to the public, will focus on building ministry programs that draw in the interest of community members.
“It will have fellowship and worship,” Taito said. “People will share how God can move you, and testify your own walk with God.”
