At St. Francis House’s fourth annual Fashionable Giving Auction, it’s totally acceptable to live a little and let your hair down.
“We’re not your average charity auction,” said Janel Tobar, the director of development and marketing at St. Francis House. “The fashion show is so much fun. We have probably 20 models made up of people from the community. We pull some of the real nice fashion items from the St. Francis House clothing bank.”
There is no four-course, sit-down plated meal, Tobar said, and attire is fashionably casual.
“It’s a laid back, casual get-together,” she added.
Never miss a local story.
The fundraising event kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday (May 29) at Station House 726, at 427 North Meridian Street, in downtown Puyallup.
Guests will be greeted at the door with a complementary glass of wine from Ginkgo Forest Winery. From there, guests will have plenty of gourmet appetizers and desserts to try, courtesy of The Vault Catering Company, while catching up with friends and browsing the silent auction tables that include such items as massage packages, coffee and handcrafted artisan products. While making their bids, guests will be able to take photos in the photo booth provided by DoProps. A no-host bar is also included.
The evening closes with the live auction and fashion show. The live auction includes 14 enticing, high-value gifts such as a Seahawks game package, a Las Vegas getaway and a Washington State Fair VIP package.
For the fashion show, attendees will relax around a catwalk and watch as models show off the variety of what the St. Francis House clothing bank has to offer.
“This year the theme is ‘What’s Your Story?’” Tobar said. “The fashion show will unfold the different chapters of our lives.”
There will be kids’ fashion on up through fashion for homecoming, prom, graduation and the first day on the job. The last scene displays fashion related to party and style.
“All of it is about how our donors help our clients through the different chapters of their lives,” Tobar explained. “It’s about how we help that mom with work clothing on her first day on the job. It’s bringing the donors into it on how they help the clients write their own stories or rewrite their own stories.”
Money raised from the Fashionable Giving Auction supports St. Francis House programs serving families and children in need in the community.
