For Tractor Supply Company officials, it was an easy decision to host a livestock exchange and pet adoption event for customers.
The events are a chance for the store to give back to customers and the community as part of Purina Days, which runs Wednesday through Sunday (May 31).
The livestock exchange features hogs, cattle, lambs, goats and chickens, and gives participants the opportunity to trade one of their animals for another participant’s animal. On Saturday (May 30), Tractor Supply will host a pet event to help encourage pet adoptions and support of local animal groups. Metro Animal Services will be at the store located at 621 River Road to run the pet adoption clinic.
Tractor Supply has been open in Puyallup since October, under the watchful eye of general manager Al Konwerski. The first Tractor Supply store in Washington has had several events like Purina Days since opening.
Never miss a local story.
“There really is value in adopting an animal,” Konwerski said. “It’s an opportunity to have an animal go to a great home.”
Konwerski and his team members are also excited about the livestock exchange.
“Our customers live a country lifestyle, and know the value of livestock,” he said. “It’s about finding the right individual pet. It’s really exciting.”
Fife High School’s Future Farmer of America chapter will be on site Saturday as well, helping to take pet photos from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CC Riders Foal Rescue will host a horse rescue informational booth from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well.
Purina Days is open to the public and their pets. Tractor Supply will have free adoption kits available for the first 10 customers who adopt a pet or animal.
“Pets and animals can bring a family years — even decades — of joy,” said Alfred Konwerski, manager of the Puyallup Tractor Supply store, in a press release. “We’re hosting Purina Days because we want new pet owners to know there are great resources to care for their pets in this community at Tractor Supply.”
