Two years ago, Rhonda Gould filled in while one of the children’s librarians at the Puyallup Public Library was on maternity leave.
Now, two years later, Gould is now settling in to her new role as interim library director.
Gould, 52, brings to the position experience as a youth services consultant and a public library consultant in Wisconsin, in an area she says is very similar to Pierce County. As with any new position comes a learning curve, but Gould says the challenges are getting easier.
“It is not as challenging now as it was when I first started because there were different projects that were in the works that I needed to get up to speed on,” she said.
Gould came in after former director Tim Wadham was fired Feb. 9 for problems related to job performance.
The job for the library director position has been posted, and Gould says the city is launching a nationwide search. Gould is applying for the job.
“I’m enjoying what I am doing, and it’s great to be back with the staff again,” she said.
Gould resides in Tacoma with her husband, where they have lived since moving out to the Pacific Northwest from Wisconsin.
