Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU) will open a new branch in Puyallup on Sept. 21 in the South Hill area at 17526 Meridian Avenue East.
This full-service branch will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
WSECU is the eighth largest Washington-based financial institution in the state and the company is working on increasing its presence in the central Puget Sound area.
“WSECU is in a period of strong, steady growth and we’re excited to be expanding in Pierce and south King Counties,” said Ann Flannigan, WSECU’s vice president of public relations, in a release. “More and more, consumers are voting with their values, in addition to their dollars. That means we’ve welcomed a lot of new members simply by continuing to do what we do best: delivering incredible service that recognizes each member as an individual, not a number, and giving back significantly in the communities we serve.”
Never miss a local story.
WSECU was founded in 1957 by state employees and has since grown to serve all Wash. State residents. It has a special focus on those who share the company values of community support through employment, service, volunteering and donations.
“In 2013, WSECU opened its doors to serve all residents in Washington State, not just those with a connection to public service,” Flannigan said. “Just through word of mouth our new member growth has been booming. People notice the things we’re doing in the community and they hear from friends and family how well members are treated. They like the concept of joining an organization with a mission.”
WSECU will also open another branch in Federal Way in early November, at 34024 Hoyt Road, near northeast Tacoma.
The new locations will increase the branch’s network to 20.
