The Friends of the Sumner Library hosts its March book sale this weekend (March 14-15).
Book sale hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
“We have two book sales: One in March and one in October each year,” said Judy Levy, an active member of the Friends of the Sumner Library.
The biannual book sales and the year-round book sale located at the library bring in between $4,000 to $5,000, Levy said.
Never miss a local story.
The revenue is broken up into thirds and supports the children’s as well as Spanish and adult reading programs.
Proceeds from last October’s book sale enabled the Friends to purchase new furniture for the children’s reading area, which looks much like a colorful caterpillar.
Book titles this weekend will range from fiction to nonfiction. Prices range from 10 cents for a children’s paperback up to $1 for an adult hardback. All books at the book sale are generously donated from the community, which Levy said makes the low prices possible.
The Sumner Library is located at 1116 Fryar Ave.
