A 44-year-old Renton man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Pierce County Superior Court to stabbing a homeless man outside a Tacoma strip mall in August.
Ernest Castro Jr. was sentenced to 33 months in prison, plus 18 months of community custody for committing a violent offense when he stabbed the man in the 3300 block of South 23rd Street on Aug. 9.
Castro had originally been charged with first-degree assault.
The victim told police he owed Castro about $130, court records said, and Castro was unhappy about it.
Never miss a local story.
The two agreed to meet outside the strip mall, and Castro arrived, stabbed him, then left, the records state.
