A road rage incident Tuesday in Spanaway ended with one driver being arrested, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A man texting and driving rear-ended a car in front of him in the 21800 block of Mountain Highway East in Spanaway about 2:20 p.m., trooper Brooke Bova said.
The passenger of the car that was hit, a military veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder, got out and started hitting the texting driver’s car, and then the texting driver, Bova said.
“He said he snapped,” she said. “He admitted to everything.”
The texting driver was slightly hurt, she said.
The passenger had a weapon but did not use it in the incident, Bova said. After going to a local hospital, he was to be taken to the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault.
The southbound lanes of Mountain Highway were closed for about an hour because of the investigation.
