The Shelton Police Department arrested a man Tuesday morning for falsely reporting a homicide, the city wrote in a release.
Shelton police and deputies from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office converged on a residence near the 200 block of East Arcadia Avenue on Tuesday morning, after a caller reported that a man had been shot and killed by his roommate, the release said.
The call caused Boudeaux Elementary School, which is close by, to be placed on lockdown. But after arriving at the scene, officers learned the alleged fatal shooting did not happen, and no injuries were reported.
The caller, a 42-year-old Shelton man, was located downtown and arrested for calling 911 and reporting a false emergency. He was taken to a psychiatric unit, and is being held there, the release said.
