A Pierce County woman was recovering Thursday at Harborview Medical Center after she was carjacked and run over with her own car last week.
The 52-year-old was leaving for work about 2 p.m. July 25 when a car blocked hers as she got out to close her gate in the 2100 block of 62nd Avenue East, between Graham and Eatonville.
A young man got out of the other car with a firearm that appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol, and the woman wrestled with him over the weapon, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
The robber then got into the woman’s car, and ran over her as he drove off, Troyer said. An accomplice sped away in the second car, Troyer said.
Never miss a local story.
The two robbers were believed to be between the ages of 16 and 19.
The woman’s car was found intact on the side of a road about three blocks away the following day, Troyer said.
The woman described the robbers’ car as small, sleek and smoky gray.
No one has been arrested.
The hospital reported that the woman was in satisfactory condition Thursday.
