Pierce County prosecutors have charged a man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a Bonney Lake bicyclist.
Jeffrey Norris, 50, was charged with vehicular assault and failure to remain at an injury accident. He has yet to be arraigned.
The accident happened Aug. 1 at 120th Street and 211th Avenue East.
Witnesses told police Norris’ vehicle hit the bicyclist from behind and he kept driving.

The bicycle “was broken into several pieces with the back portion of the frame sheared off and split into two pieces,” according to charging papers.
The bicyclist suffered a concussion, fractured vertebrae, stitches above his eye and a shoulder injury.
Norris called 911 about 40 minutes after the crash and told dispatchers he’d been involved. In an interview with police, he allegedly told officers he thought he’d struck a mailbox.
