UPDATE as of 9:30 p.m. A large group was in the area of South 19th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, when witnesses hear several shots and the group ran in different directions, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said. The person shot, a 31-year-old man, ended up a few houses south of the intersection, Cool said. The man was hit in the stomach, and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for surgery. The shooting was likely a drive-by, as a dark, tinted, four-door vehicle fled the area, she said.
INITIAL POST: A person was reportedly injured in a drive-by shooting near 19th Street South and Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Tacoma Tuesday night.
The victim, a male whose age was not immediately available, was shot in the side, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
