A 20-year-old man died overnight after a shooting Friday near South 23rd Street and South Yakima Avenue, Tacoma police said Saturday.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office on Saturday night identified the victim as Douglas Medlock.
Officers booked two men into the Pierce County Jail on Saturday for investigation of second-degree murder in connection with the shooting, officer Naveed Benjamin said.
P olice responded to reports of shots fired near South 23rd Street and South Yakima Avenue at 9:14 p.m. Friday.

The gunshot victim’s friends took him to a restaurant in the 2400 block of Pacific Avenue, Benjamin said. From there the man was taken to a nearby hospital but died late Friday. Police initially reported he was in his 30s.
The News Tribune is not naming the two men booked in connection with the shooting because they have yet to be charged.
