Police: Drugs, weapons found in trailer of felon
Law enforcement allegedly found a cache of drugs and guns inside the Spanaway trailer of a convicted felon who was spotted in a stolen vehicle.
A sheriff’s deputy said he saw Scott Vansickle, 39, drive a stolen car down 52nd Avenue East on Aug. 13. After learning that Vansickle was being monitored by the state Department of Corrections, the deputy contacted that agency.
Vansickle’s corrections officer decided to do a compliance check on his trailer.
Inside they found three marijuana plants, suspected heroin, a Remington handgun, an H&R revolver, .22 revolver, drug paraphernalia, a homemade firecracker, an assault vest and a military police badge, according to court documents.
Vansickle was arrested and Pierce County prosecutors have charged him with two counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of an incendiary device and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Prosecutors said they plan to file additional charges for the suspected heroin, which is being tested, and the .22 revolver.
Vansickle has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is jailed on $75,000 bail.
He has nine prior felony convictions, court records indicate.
