Puyallup police went in search of a small bear Monday.
They found a large black dog – that then eluded them.
Police received reports of bear sightings about 4:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Seventh Avenue South. Officers asked anyone who spotted the bear to call 911. They also called the state Department of Fish and Wildlife for help.
Upon investigating, officers found that the reported bear was in fact a canine, though they couldn’t determine its breed, as it ran from officers.
“We weren’t able to talk to him, he took off,” police spokesman Scott Engle said. “Animal control would like to find him and return him to his rightful owner.”
