A 43-year-old man is in custody after breaking into a Thurston County home and taking off his clothes, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Cliff Ziesemer gave the following account of the incident:
Deputies responded to the home in the 9600 block of Summerfield Loop SE about 1:30 a.m. Thursday after residents reported that a man had broken into a bedroom where a husband and wife were sleeping. The husband chased the suspect outside and lost sight of him.
The husband is a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy, KIRO-TV reported.
"He came in the slider door ... and unfortunately, we didn't have it locked, which we should have,” Deputy Joe Laiuppa told KIRO.
An Olympia Police Department K9 team and a Tumwater Police Department K9 team responded to help find the man.
Deputies found the man’s clothes, which he had taken off in the house, then found the man in a hot tub at a nearby home.
The suspect became combative, and deputies used a stun gun twice to subdue and him.
The man was completely naked and covered in scratches and bruises from running through the bushes.
He was taken to Capital Medical Center, where he was examined by medics, and booked in the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, attempted third degree assault, resisting arrest and criminal trespass.
