A woman hit and critically injured a bicyclist Monday in Puyallup, and she appeared to be intoxicated at the time, police said.
The 19-year-old driver was heading south on 4th Street Southwest about 2:40 p.m., when she drove past a stop sign at the intersection of 9th Avenue Southwest, and hit a 66-year-old man riding his bike, police spokesman Scott Engle said.
The vehicle she was driving continued onto a sidewalk, through a fence, and into a building on the grounds of the Washington State Fair, according to police.
The bicyclist was taken to a hospital with injuries Engle believed to be life-threatening. His condition was not immediately available.
