A man with a distinctive goatee robbed a Puyallup grocery store at gunpoint Sunday, police said.

The man pointed a black semiautomatic handgun at the clerk at Pioneer Grocery, 1522 E. Pioneer, about 1 p.m. He threatened to shoot the worker, robbed the employee, and fled, according to police.

The robber took off in a gold Cadillac Escalade with large black-and-silver wheels and rims. He was seen driving west on Fifth Avenue Southeast to southbound 14th Street Southeast at a high speed.

His goatee was several inches long and came to a point, police said.
