A 22-year-old man was in jail Christmas Eve after a knife attack Tuesday outside an Orting restaurant that sent two people to the hospital, police said.
Officers also detained a 29-year-old man for questioning Tuesday, but he later was released, Chief Bill Drake said.
Updates on the conditions of the two men sent to the hospital, ages 22 and 45, were not available Wednesday. One initially was in critical condition, Orting Valley Fire and Rescue said.
Drake said wounds included neck and chest injuries.
An altercation between four men, who knew each other, started outside the Los Pinos restaurant about 7:30 p.m. The restaurant is at 228 Washington Ave. SE, Drake said.
He declined to say what might have prompted the fight. The group does not appear to have been inside Los Pinos before, he said.
At one point, the 22-year-old man pulled out a knife and attacked. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for investigation of two counts of first-degree assault, records show.
