A delivery driver solicited sex from a 15-year-old girl on a Gig Harbor playground, Pierce County prosecutors say.
Christopher Urban, 46, is charged with commercial sex abuse of a minor. He is set to be arraigned Feb. 19.
The girl’s stepfather called 911 on Aug. 27 after the girl returned home and told her family a man mistook her for a prostitute while she was on the swing set and asked her to have sex.
Urban allegedly waved the girl over and gave her his phone number on a slip of paper, asking her to call him later. The girl refused and walked home.
Never miss a local story.
When deputies called the number and asked Urban if he’d spoken with a girl in the Lake Holiday Community, he told detectives he’d been trying to help the girl.
“The defendant claimed he was only trying to provide her with a phone number to a ‘help line’ for girls ‘like her’ but he had difficulty getting the information because he could not get a good Internet connection,” records show.
Urban’s employer, UPS, investigated the incident but it was not known whether he was disciplined.
