A Kent house fire early Sunday displaced three adults and two children, and killed a pet dog.
One of the home’s residents noticed the fire and woke the rest of the family up, which allowed them to escape, according to fire officials.
Kent Fire said an ‘alert passerby’ also noticed the fire and pounded on the front door to be sure the people inside were aware of the danger.
A 911 call came in about 3:30 a.m.; before 4 a.m. the fire was under control.
A Kent Fire Department Investigator declared the cause as “undetermined…with no malice indicated.”
The fire began in the garage and moved into the house, causing what is estimated as $75,000 in damage, Kent Fire said.
