A 29-year-old man who died Sunday after being hit by a train north of Tacoma’s Titlow Beach committed suicide, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said.
The News Tribune does not name those who kill themselves.
The man was walking on the tracks when a northbound train approached about 9:45 p.m. The conductor hit the emergency brake and sounded a whistle but the train could not stop in time.
The man was the eighth person hit and killed on BNSF tracks in the state this year, BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said.
