The Puyallup Walmart reopened Thursday after a fire in the garden center closed the store Tuesday night.
Merchandise stored too close to heaters started the fire, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. No damage estimate was available.
The garden center was closed and emptied, and construction crews were repairing the damage. The store reopened with a temporary garden center along the front patio.
Firefighters were called at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the fire was control by 11 p.m. Four built-in sprinkler heads kept the flames down, avoiding additional damage to the building.
