One man was seriously injured Friday after being shot in a Tacoma alley.
The shooting happened about 1:20 p.m. at South 45th Street and Union Avenue, police said.
“It appeared to be a drive-by shooting,” police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital.
No arrests were made.
Dominique X and Jeremiah Sharp were behind a store near the shooting scene shortly before shots were fired.
A group of young men came out of the store and walked to a nearby alley behind an apartment building, X said. Minutes later, he said, eight shots were fired from the alley.
Sharp said said he heard gunfire and saw a white SUV drive away. A gun was pointing out a window of the SUV, he said.
“We were here on the corner looking through the garbage because my cousin had lost something when we heard shots,” Sharp said. “When you hear shots your instinct is to look up.
The gun “looked like it was pointed at me,” he added.”
The men said they ran up the alley to where a group of people had gathered near the wounded man, whom a bystander said had been shot in the head.
