Pierce County prosecutors have charged a transient sex offender who allegedly was browsing child pornography in a South Hill chiropractor’s waiting room.
Christopher Parson, 33, has not yet been arraigned on eight counts of possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
One of the chiropractor’s patients noticed Parson chatting online about child porn in the waiting room in December and called police.
Officers notified the community custody officer monitoring Parson, a registered sex offender, and she went to the chiropractor’s office Jan. 7.
The state Department of Corrections officers “were able to get next to the defendant’s chair before he realized they were there and immediately hit the power button to turn off the laptop,” according to charging papers.
Police found “numerous” images of child porn on Parson’s laptop.
Parson is barred from possessing devices that connect to the Internet because of his prior sex offense.
