A three-alarm fire that damaged or destroyed seven Auburn businesses May 7 did $790,000 in estimated damages, according to Valley Regional Fire Authority.
The fire broke out about 8:25 p.m. at P.A.N. Body Shop, 2810 Academy Drive SE. A passerby alerted an employee, who tried to douse the flames with fire extinguishers.
Firefighters from five agencies needed about five hours to put out the blaze. Investigators said Thursday they could not determine what started the fire.
Flames damaged or destroyed seven businesses within two commercial buildings, including a woodworking shop and several vehicle repair garages.
