A 19-year-old man who was shot to death Wednesday night while allegedly breaking into a Parkland apartment was identified Thursday as Anthony Howard.
Pierce County sheriff’s detectives were still sorting out what led up to the 9:40 p.m. shooting at the Concordia Arms Apartment, 114 129th St. S.
The shooter, who was not arrested, was a tenant of the apartment. He told deputies Howard asked to come inside the apartment and then threatened to shoot it up and beat the tenant.
The tenant shut the door and locked it. Howard allegedly pounded on the door and a window, prompting the tenant to grab a gun and warn Howard to leave.
Howard forced open the door and was standing in the doorway with six other people when the tenant fired once, hitting Howard in the chest, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Howard died at the scene.
