Bullets smashed part of a double-pane glass door and broke a window at the entrance of Roy City Hall.
Both small-caliber rounds were shot into Roy City Hall around five Wednesday morning.
“We have a person of interest,” said Roy police Officer Dan Rozier. “And there is security footage from the building of the subject.”
The same person allegedly fired a bullet through the window of the Old General Store Steakhouse and Saloon a few blocks away and the city's post office across town.
“It’s sad, it’s disrespectful, it’s damaging city property and personal property,” said Roy resident Becky Brown.
This isn't the first time someone has fired shots at buildings in Roy. Four rounds from a higher-caliber weapon hit glass and walls inside City Hall last Halloween. One tore through the robe of the city's municipal court judge left hanging on a wall. Others traveled deep into the office, ricocheted off a wall and hit a secure door to the police department.
Police said they have no motive for the shootings. Residents said they hope police make an arrest before someone gets hurt.
“I hope they catch the individual,” said Bill Pengilley, who was picking up his mail at the post office. “It’s going to cost the taxpayers a lot of money. It’s just uncalled for.”
