A teenager accidentally shot a woman Thursday in Parkland, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The 15-year-old boy, who has since turned 16, was in the back seat of the car the woman was driving, when he accidentally fired off a gun, wounding her, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.
The woman, who investigators said is 18, is recovering at a hospital, and is expected to survive, Troyer said.
The boy was arrested.
Troyer said the two have a relationship of some kind, and investigators believe the 16-year-old is the woman’s boyfriend.
The shooting happened about 8:45 p.m. in the 400 block of 111th Street Court East.
Further details were not immediately available.
